How to Optimize Stock Photos for Multiple Platforms

The Multi-Platform Challenge

Most successful stock photographers sell on 3-5 platforms simultaneously. But each platform has different metadata rules:

Strategy: Create a Master Metadata Set

Instead of writing separate metadata for each platform, create a master set and adapt:

1. Write a Comprehensive Title (250 chars)

This is your full, detailed title. You'll trim it for platforms with shorter limits.

2. Generate 50 Keywords

Use all 50 for platforms that allow it. For 25-keyword platforms, use only the most relevant.

3. Write a Full Description

Adapt the length for each platform's requirements.

Platform-Specific Adaptation Tips

For Shutterstock

  • Use all 50 keywords
  • Order keywords by relevance (most important first)
  • Full-length title
  • For Adobe Stock

  • Trim to top 25 keywords
  • Shorten title to 70 characters
  • Select appropriate category
  • For Getty/iStock

  • Use their controlled vocabulary terms
  • 25 carefully chosen keywords
  • Editorial vs. creative distinction
  • Automating Multi-Platform Optimization

The most efficient approach is to use an AI metadata generator that outputs platform-specific formats. PixCraftAI generates metadata pre-formatted for Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Freepik, and other major platforms — all from a single image analysis.
